As we've already said, we only use solid gold in our jewellery. Don't be fooled by those selling gold plated or vermeil jewellery for inflated prices. Whilst there may be a place for these metals in the industry, we believe in making jewellery that lasts a life time - let's face it, gold plated or vermeil jewellery is just another form of "fast fashion" and doesn't last.
There are several key differences between solid and gold-plated jewelry:
Value and Durability: Solid gold jewellery, especially pieces with higher karat purity, tends to hold its value and withstand the test of time. Gold-plated jewellery, while more affordable, may eventually show signs of wear as the thin layer of gold can wear off, revealing the base metal underneath.
Maintenance: Solid gold jewellery requires minimal maintenance as it does not tarnish or corrode. In contrast, gold-plated jewelry may require more careful maintenance to preserve the appearance of the gold layer, including avoiding exposure to moisture, chemicals, and abrasion.
Cost: Solid gold jewellery is generally more expensive due to its higher gold content, however, it will last longer and look better, so we believe it's a better option to purchase where possible. Many sellers will fool purchasers in to paying very high prices for gold plated and gold vermeil jewellery and we don't think it's fair - always read the small print!
